This morning, a very widespread display of NLC was visible over Western Europe. From my observation point, Steenwijk, situated in the northern part of the Netherlands, the NLC formation still could be seen in 'severe' twilight. At 0236 UT, less than 45 minutes before sunrise, faint structures of NLC were visible 20 degrees above the westsouthwesterly horizon. This was almost similar to the record widespread NLC display of July 2nd 2008. The movement of the NLC structures this morning was from the northeast. Yesterday's 'late-evening' display was already nice, but this morning situation was splendid. For me it was the first NLC situation in 2016. I am observing NLC's them since 1983. Camera Canon 20D.ISO 400 (latest ISO 100), exp time 0,5 sec (latest 0,8 sec). f 4.5, Obj 11 mm fisheye.
