Details:
As observers tracked this giant filament across the solar disk this last week many were surprised that it had not lifted off. Now as it transitions into a “filprom”, a term that amateur solar astronomers use to describe a filament as it turns into a prominence at the suns limb, we are still awaiting a dramatic lift off event. The image was captured using my Astro-Physics 152mm F8 refractor and a Daystar Quantum PE .5 Angstrom Hydrogen Alpha filter.
